Press Release: Spoke Project Space Hosts “So You Think You Can Paint? The Chicago Edition”
Chicago, Il (July 2, 2010) – The Spoke Project Space is offering a chance for anyone to participate in an art exhibition!
From July 11th until July 13th during the hours of 3pm to 5pm, members of the community can drop off up to three paintings at the Spoke Project Space to participate in “So You Think You Can Paint? The Chicago Edition”. The exhibition will accept paintings of any subject, size or format.
A panel will critique the submitted paintings based on how well the painters handle the medium. A video of the judging process will be shown at the reception and awards presentation from 6 to 9 pm on July 16th. Prizes will be awarded to selected winners and contestants with winning pieces will have the opportunity to compete in “So You Think You Can Paint? Tampa Bay Season Two”.
“So You Think You Can Paint? The Chicago Edition” will be shown at the Spoke Project Space at 119 N Peoria #3D Chicago, Il 60607. The exhibition is free and open to the public. The show’s creator Vincent Kral, an Artist from Tampa Bay Florida first held the show at the Centre Gallery on the campus of The University of South Florida. Initially the show was set to be a vehicle to raise awareness of the Centre Gallery by engaging the student body and Tampa community with the unique completely open and call for painting. The only stipulation was that submissions were paintings, but the entries were only judged on execution of the medium rather than any conceptual trappings.
